Chocolate chip cookies

First of all, Happy New Year 2014 to all the viewers of SherpaniChef!!DSC_1447-001

I hope 2013 was a good year for everyone and may this new year bring a much more fun filled life! In retrospect, 2013 was a productive year for SherpaniChef. We have posted about 95 posts so far, which is not too bad considering all the other things I’ve been trying to keep up with. A new year’s resolution for SherpaniChef is to write many more recipes and travel posts. We have a lot of travel plans for 2014 and we plan to post about them!
On a different note, we have been very busy lately that it hasn’t really felt like the holidays this year, so I decided to bake cookies and get into the holiday spirit. Chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorite cookies. They are very easy to bake and taste wonderful. If you are a novice baker, this is a must try recipe!

Ingredients:
2 sticks of unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 and half teaspoons vanilla extract
2 and 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 and 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts or any nuts coarsely chopped
1/4 cup of coca powder (optional)
1 teaspoon black cumin (optional and with some interesting medical properties)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Get baking sheets ready with parchment paper.

3. In a large bowl, add all the ingredients except flour. Use hand mixer or electric mixer until the batter is smooth.  Now, add flour and mix to make a dough.            DSC_1488-001   DSC_1491-001

4. Place one dollop of cookie dough on the cookie sheet. (This will give irregular shaped cookies.) Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 375 F. DSC_1493-001

5. To make more regular shaped cookies, you can make small round balls and place them on the cookie sheet to bake.   DSC_1495-001

5. Once the cookies are baked, eat as many as you can hot out of the oven because this is when they are best! We had a cookie party and I finished 8 of them!  Happy New Year!!   DSC_1533-001
