Happy Thanksgiving! How to cook juicy Thanksgiving Turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I have been meaning to post this recipe for far too long, but never got around to it. It is a last minute post, but I hope some people might still find this useful. I love turkey but it has to be juicy. So, here is a recipe on how to make a juicy turkey.

10-15 lb Turkey
2 large onions chopped
2 cups of carrot sticks
2 tablespoons of minced garlic
2 sticks of butter
2 tablespoons of thyme
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons basil
2 tablespoons rosemary
1 tablespoon blackpepper
Salt to taste


1. Thaw the turkey as per the packaging instructions. Rinse and pat dry before marinating and stuffing. DSC_9849-001 2. In a bowl, melt two sticks of butter and add all the spices (thyme, parsley, garlic, salt…)DSC_9850-001 3. In a large bowl mix onion, carrot sticks and 1/4 cup of butter paste. (Leave the rest of the butter paste for rubbing on turkey). DSC_9853-001 4. Stuff turkey with onion and carrots.DSC_9865-001

5. Add some butter paste as well. DSC_9872-001 6. Use aluminium foil to cover the open space. DSC_9873-001 7. Tie the legs. DSC_9881-001 8. Make small slits in the sides of the turkey. Apply the butter paste to the skin and rub it into the slits. Let the turkey sit for half an hour before cooking. DSC_9891-001 9. Pre-heat oven at 375 degree F. In a pan add 4 cups of water (which can later be used for gravy). Cook Turkey, breast up, for an hour without an aluminum foil cover.  DSC_9956-001 10. Keep the giblets in the pan. DSC_9973-001 11. Now, place the turkey breast side down and cover with an aluminium foil and cook for 3 hours. Keep checking temperature with the thermometer. It has to be at least 165 F inside to be safe. DSC_9975-001 12. Although the turkey is not that pretty to look at, the meat will be juicy and tender! DSC_9980-001If you want golden brown color, cook turkey for half an hour without any cover. 307751_2415745765050_702056335_n13.
