Eggless Quick Easy Khapse (Bullu)

Happy Loshar! May this new year bring joy and happiness to everyone! This khapse is very simple and easy to make compared to other khapses. This recipe makes about 6 large khapses (make sure to share one with a friend, or lover since it is the Valentine’s day). DSC_3032-001

3 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup milk
3 tbs melted butter
Vegetable Oil to deep fry
Powder sugar to garnish

1. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients to make a batter. I use an electric mixer to make it easier. DSC_2974-001DSC_2975-001

DSC_2984-0012. Pour the batter into a Ziploc bag. Make sure to use a good quality Ziploc bag so that it doesn’t break, or use a squeeze bottle instead. I add 1/2 cup at a time. DSC_3011-0013. Heat oil in a large pan. Once the oil is hot, add batter into the hot oil. Make sure to make a large circle in the beginning as a base. And then add other circles or patterns to make intricate details. (Make sure to adjust temperature to keep oil enough to fry the khapse but not so hot that it burns quickly.) DSC_3016-001DSC_3026-0013. Once one side is brown, flip to the other side and cook until that side is brown as well.DSC_2994-0014. Remove from the oil and drain excess oil using a paper towel.
